I was born in Denizli, Turkey, where I also completed my primary, secondary, and high school education. In 2002, I began my medical education at Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine. Throughout my studies, I was deeply fascinated by the anatomy, physiology, and complex functioning of the human body.
After graduating from medical school in 2008, I fulfilled my compulsory service at Sakarya Kaynarca State Hospital. Shortly after, in 2009, I started my residency training in Anesthesiology and Reanimation at Istanbul Training and Research Hospital. Upon completing my specialization, I continued my career at Bahçelievler State Hospital in Istanbul.
During this period, I gained international experience: in 2012, I joined Harvard University Medical School – Boston Children’s Hospital as an observer, and in 2015 I conducted neuroscience research at Loma Linda University, Los Angeles.
As someone who truly enjoys lifelong learning, I obtained my Occupational Physician Certification in 2021, and also completed a Culinary Arts degree at Anadolu University (Open Education Faculty) as a personal interest.
In 2019, I received a Mesotherapy Certification approved by the Turkish Ministry of Health and have been actively performing mesotherapy procedures since then. In 2022, I continued my medical practice in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and since 2023 I have been seeing patients in my own private clinic.
Throughout my professional journey, I have always practiced medicine with deep dedication and in accordance with the core ethical principles of good medical practice: respect for autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice.
Having worked for many years in operating rooms and intensive care units — the most critical areas of hospitals — I have witnessed countless moments of both joy and sorrow. The doctor–patient relationship, which can at times resemble that of a friend, a parent, or a sibling, is something I deeply value.
My experience with patients suffering from pulmonary, cardiac, diabetic, oncologic, and neurological conditions has greatly enhanced my awareness and sensitivity toward health and life itself.
Naturally, I began paying more attention to my own well-being — I quit smoking, reduced stress, adopted a healthier diet, started exercising, and began using cleaner products.
To me, health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Therefore, I aim to approach my patients holistically — to understand and address the underlying causes of their complaints — and I continuously update my knowledge through ongoing education in this field.
Life is a long journey, and not always an easy one. At times, we neglect ourselves and fail to listen to our bodies — to the very selves we should love and care for the most. But it is never too late to begin: each day you choose to listen to yourself is a new step toward better self-care.
And on this journey to feeling better and becoming the best version of yourself, I will be honoured to accompany you whenever you need me.
With kind regards,
Dr. Gokce Yilmaz
